"Smiley face"

This smiley face has made great progress in a short period of time. A year ago she didn't speak any English and now she's talking to everyone, in both English and Fanti!

Rebecca, 7 years

"The quiet one"

Rebecca is very quiet and sweet. She loves to play with the toys and make puzzles. She always has the coolest hairdo.

Kate, 4 years

"Mami Kate"

This little sweetheart is not the Kate of Meet Kate, but might be a good successor. She's always smiling, and because she sometimes forgets names, she calls everyone MAMA.

     Sena Woyi, 3 year

         "Daddy's girl"

Sena lives with us during the week, in the weekend she goes home to her father. Her father is a single parent and has not received his teacher's salary for over 10 months. Sena will stay for 6 months with us until her father is doing better.

Mary, 3 year

"The little one"

Mary is the youngest resident of the MKCH. She was raised by her grandmother, but due to poor nutrition she was underfed. Since the start of 2011, she's living at the MKCH and things are looking up. 

Ruth, 9 year

"The smart one"

Ruth is a smart girl who's in class 2 now. She was already living with director Philomena Fynn before the MKCH was opened.

Joseph, 6 years

"The Joker"

Joseph is one of the most social kids and plays with everyone. He likes different handshakes, and the High Five is his favourite!

Christopher, 10 years

"The goalie"

Going to school is fun, but being a goalie in a soccergame is his biggest hobby. His big dream is to play in the Premier League in England and be a national goalie.

Michael, 7 years

"The reader"

Michael is the only boy who isn't that interested in playing socces, but prefers to read. He is now in class 1.

Bright, 8 years

"The naughty one"

If you could wake anyone up for a practical joke, it's Bright. He's always happy, very social and always in search of ways to pull a good prank.

Adowa, 8 years

"The devoted one"

Adowa loves to chat and is very attached to the adults around her. She is now in class 1. 

Edward, 12 years

"Eddy"

Eddy is the translator for the little ones. Some don't speak English, and Eddy is fluent, despite being 12 years old! He works hard and preferably eats Fufu every day.

Ibrahim, 9 years

"AB"

Ibrahim, or AB as we call him here, is a quiet, sweet boy. He is in class 2 now, but he still needs some extra tutoring. Especially English and Fante is difficult for him.

Emmanuel, 12 jaar

"Everyone's friend"

Being one of the elder boys, he takes on a lot of responsibilities. If he's not out preparing the soccerfield, he's taking care of the little ones.

Abena, 11 years

"The eldest"

Abena is the eldest girl in the MKCH, she's in the fifth grade. Because she had to work most of the time, she's behind in school. The employees at the MKCH are taking extra time to tutor her.

Kate, 10 years

"The inspiration"

The girl that inspired us 5 years ago, with her big smile and radiant eyes, is still doing so today. Kate is doing very well in school. She's helping out with the little ones at the MKCH, and helps the bigger kids with their homework, if they need her to. Kate is a great example for many!

          Vivian, 11 years

        "The enthusiastic"

Vivian is chearful, enthusiastic and involved in everything. She says she's very happy, partly because she can finally join the computer class at school. Before, there wasn't any money for that.

Jojo, 5 years

"The sweetheart"

Jojo was brought to us by his grandfather. At first he was very shy, but now he's shouting at the top of his lungs! Jojo is a slow eater, because he's always busy admiring the Disney paintings in the dining room.

      Majid Idrisu, 5 years

         "the cool-one"

Majid's mother is trying to find a job. Majid's mom is visiting Majid every weekend so she is still a big part of his life. Hopefully Majid will return to his family within a year.

Bernard, 7 years

"Mama's boy"

Bernard lives during the week in the MKCH, in the weekend he goes to his mother. Although the mother has financial problems and is therefore unable to take fully care of Bernard, we feel that she has to show responsibility towards him. That is why we chose this arrangement. Bernard is a smart boys and he does well in school.

     Aaron Ankrag, 7 years

         “The newcomer”

Aaron is new! He used to live with his grandmother, because both his parents ran away. His grandma is growing old and could not take care of him anymore. Without Meet Kate, his grandma wouldn’t have know what to do.

Kelvin Kofi Sekyi, 4 years

            "the chatter"

Kelvin's parents have left him with his grandparents after he was born and never returned. His grandmother is very old and is no longer able to care for him. Kelvin did not have an English name and was called Kofi. In the house he was named Kelvin, after Meet Kate's founder Kelly.

     Ciara Antwi, 5 years

       "The Boarder"

Ciara's parents are both working full time and in Ghana that often means children will go to boarding school.·Ciara lives with us during school periods and attends our daycare center. The fee her parents are paying helps us give other children scholarships, if their parents are unable to afford school fees.

 Suzzy and Kelvin Arthur

             6 and 3 years

            "The Siblings"

Suzzy and Kelvin are the cousins of Ciara. Also their parents are working full time. And because the parents of Ciara were so happy with the teaching facilities of Meet Kate, the parents of Suzzy and Kelvin decided to bring them here aswell. 

The boarding house is now full.
